Hi, I'm Dr. Kat. Alongside my team, I created the Working It Out Together Toolkit to support researchers and people with lived experience to work together throughout the research life cycle. And here's something important that we found. You don't have to read every page, and there isn't one right way to use this. Think of this as your research desk, and you can just pick the parts you need to. Got 15 minutes? Start with one question. Maybe you're wondering, why is lived experience important to our research project? Or, whose voices and experiences are missing? Now, you don't have to answer every question today. Some questions take 10 minutes, while others might take months. Setting up an advisory group? The toolkit can help with that, too. What's the purpose of the group? Will members provide advice or make decisions? And how will you share those findings and opportunities with your members? Hit a bump in the road? That's normal. Projects get messy. Come back to the toolkit, choose one question, and work it out together. Working it out together can be a question over a coffee, a team meeting, a workshop, or a whole research project. Or simply a way to reset things when things feel stuck. Because meaningful research partnerships aren't built in one day. You don't have to work it all out at once. You just have to work it out together.
